Americana Series Part II: Pinche Gringo BBQ ... Texas BBQ in the DF!

The Place: Pinche Gringo BBQ ... Texas BBQ in the DF!

The Experience: Texas BBQ is now common all over the USA, but in Mexico barbacoa and tacos are king. Like many Pinche Gringos think that Taco Bell is a typical Mexican meal, many Mexicans think that Texas BBQ is composed of mass-produced burgers with sticky sauce. That is until a Pinche Gringo arrived in the DF and behind the crumbling walls on the corner of Cumbres de Maltrata and Palenque in the Colonia Narvarte, started Texas BBQ's reign over foodies in the DF.

The idea of a gringo like Gringo G, who lived in Texas for years, falling in love with the state specialty, came down about 1 year ago with the plan of selling a simple straightforward offering of Texas BBQ to the Mexican public. His concept has taken the public by storm.

Flocks of foodies of all nationalities head to the Pinche Gringo every weekend to scarf down large portions of the only 4 dishes the Pinche Gringo BBQ has on offer: brisquet, pulled pork, pork ribs or veal sausage. All of the meat is slow-smoked in the PBQ's custom-made smoker. There are four classic sides that you can accompany the smoked meat with: mac and cheese, baked beans, potato salad and coleslaw. There are an assortment of craft beers on tap as well as iced tea.

If you are looking for something a little different in Mexico City ... the Pinche Gringo BBQ will serve it to you in gargantuan portions!

The Location: Cumbres de Maltrata 360, intersection with Calle Palenque, Colonia Narvarte, DF.

The Specials: Simple ... classic Texas BBQ: brisquet, pork ribs, pulled pork and smoked veal sausage. Sides: mac and cheese, baked beans (really good baked beans), coleslaw and potato salad.

You can wash it all down with craft beer ... much to Gringo G's liking!

Tips: The Pinche Gringo does not accept reservations and you cannot set aside tables, you must wait in line before being served and then seated. The line can now be up to 90 minutes on busy weekend days so be ready for a wait!

Also it is well worth it to buy your BBQ by the pound and share it family style as you will get more meat for less cash.
