The Place: La Cervecería
de Barrio: A Popular Choice during the Annual Mexican Drink-A-Thon!
The Experience: The Cervecería de Barrio started in a small location on Tamaulipas and Vícente Suárez in the Condesa just steps away from the competition, Guadalupe Reyes Cantina, but they swiftly expanded into a more robust operation opening huge beer and seafood locations all around Mexico City area.
The other locations have so many people that the whole place
becomes massively festive, loud and boisterous almost like going to a Mexican
version of Oktoberfest. The seafood and finger food alike are excellent and the
beers chilled … If you want to keep a Mexican Winter Drink-A-Thon going strong
the Cervecería is heavily recommended.
The Location Gringo G went to: Calle Xochicalco 194,
Colonia Piedad Narvarte, DF.
A Couple Christmas Brews
The Specials: The seafood is all excellent. Both the
varieties of fresh fresh fresh ceviche and seafood tostadas (seafood on top of
a round-dried crackly corn tortilla) are all Gringo G favorites. As strange as it may sound the options with habanero chile, with its super-spicey reputation, if done well are a favorite of Gringo G as they impart a tangy, unique and wonderful flavor if used right and will not kill the dish.
Tamarind Margarita
Mango Margarita
Shrimp Tostada
Shrimp Aguachile
Ceviche Tostada
Tips: There are mare many
locations ... the Gringo simply went to one out of convenience ... look for the
closest location around Mexico City that suits you. Also instead of ordering individual tostadas you can get more bang for your buck ordering the larger Aguachiles (basically ceviche plates) and sharing them and making your own tostadas.
