The Place: America's Finest City - San Diego, CA!
Gringo G’s Experience
Summary: Gringo
G had a quick trip to San Diego and took full advantage of his time; discovering
all over again this stunning city's sights, smells, sounds and most importantly
food!
Things To Do:
San Diego is packed with history and has history dating back to
the Era of the Portuguese and Spanish Explorers.
San Diego Bay (next to Downtown) is very nice and Gringo G had the opportunity
to sail around it on his trip. This is a great way of getting in touch with the
maritime history of San Diego which is rich. There are many charters to get on
boats in the hotels around Downtown as well as in the Marinas.

Balboa Park is a San Diego landmark. The park overlooks
Downtown San Diego and is really nice for a walk. Also built into this park are
major attractions including: several museums (the San Diego Air & Space
Museum, the Mingei Int’l Museum and the Museum
of Natural History being the Gringo’s favorites), the Japanese
Garden, the Old Globe Theatre (an exact replicate of the namesake in England
made famous by Shakespeare himself) and the San Diego Zoo (the Zoo is not the
Gringo’s thing but it is World Class). Balboa Park is a must visit if you are in San
Diego.

Down along the Harbor adjacent to Downtown you can check out the San
Diego Martime Museum (with the Star of India claiming to be the
oldest operating ship in the world … they actually take her out to sail once in
a while) as well as the USS Midway Museum which is a
great experience where visitors can walk around and interact in a full-blown
aircraft carrier … wow!!

The Birch Aquarium is located on the
University of California, San Diego (UCSD) Campus and both
the Aquarium and UCSD are excellent places to visit. It is really nice to walk
around the UCSD Campus and the Aquarium is small but very interesting; almost a
mini-World Class Aquarium. Nearby if you are into outdoor activities Torrey
Pines State Reserve and Torrey Pines State Beach are
both very nice nature attractions where you can combine a visit to the beach
with walks along pristine nature trails.

Downtown Encinitas (Encinitas is in North County) are all places where you can find happening bars and some clubs where
you can have a good night out. Gringo G did not have enough time to partake in
these libations on this trip but can recommend these areas if you are looking
for a fun night out in the San Diego Area.
